Overview and Philosophy of the e-Commons Site
The nursing e-Commons is a virtual village square where nurses from all specialties can convene to share ideas; network; communicate; and obtain information, materials, education, and resources on nursing and environmental healthursing. The e-Commons advances educational discovery and the generation and dissemination of evidence-based, scientifically sound information on the effect of the environment on human health. The foundation of the e-Commons is a belief in the power of community and shared dialog in building capacity for environmental health and nursing.
The goal of the e-Commons is to combine the power of social networking tools with professional nursing collaboration in order to create and share knowledge about the impact of the environment on human health.

Intended Audience
The target audience for the e-Commons is nurses of all specialties, nursing faculty and nursing students who are interested in the effects of the environment on human health.

e-Commons uses an implementation of the Wordpress mu software platform to power its blogs and content. This platform is amazingly powerful, and although at the basic level, very easy to use, provides numerous advanced features. Getting started at the basic level is pretty straightforward, but those who want to take their blog sites further and more advanced users may wish to explore the advanced facilities outlined in the pages of this User Guide.
