In December, 2008, a group of national nursing leaders declared the need to formalize their relationship in order to work on environmental health and nursing issues. They created the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments (ANHE).
The Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments is a new organization that convenes individual nurses and nursing organizations that are interesting and addressing environmental health issues. Using the blueprint articulated in the Institute of Medicine report, Nursing Health and the Environment, the Alliance has developed a strategic plan for the integration of environmental health into nursing education, practice, research, and policy/advocacy work.
Any nurse who is interested in environmental health is welcome to participate in the Alliance’s activities and work group. The Alliance is guided by a Steering Committee that is made up of individuals and organizational representatives.
